Truth and Beauty in the Canadian Rockies

Award-winning author Lisa Christensen's fourth book in the Hiker's Guide to the Art of the Canadian Rockies series, Truth and Beauty in the Canadian Rockies looks at the artist's work in the town of Canmore, and Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks, taking you to the places where he sat to create his masterful mountain watercolours.  Christensen also explores Phillips' rocky mountain prints, setting a trail for readers to follow to understand Phillips' connection to the beauty of nature and to visit the exact spots that inspired him to set up his easel and paint.

Walter J. Phillips was one of Canada's finest watercolourists and printmakers, who applied the techniques of Japanese printmaking to Canadian scenery in the 1920s.  His works are revered by print and watercolour aficionados, and held in many of Canada's finest art collections, both public and private.
