Artist Statement
My work flows from my sensory, spiritual and intellectual experience of being alive.
As a visual artist, I am very interested in the peripheral senses - that is, our perception beyond sight, beyond the direct gaze. How we perceive the world through all our physical and metaphysical senses, and how this perception informs our spiritual and intellectual being, is a source of continuous inquiry in my life, and thus in my art.
Just to see is not enough; I must be aware of my whole body, heart and mind in space and time. To be open and aware of my human existence in this marvellous world, and to try to see beyond surface appearances, are integral to my art practice.
