Andrea's body of work, which started as a way to cope with the trauma of spousal abuse, evolved into an expression of joy, strength, and authenticity. Andrea explains, “This body of work represents a time of my life that was undoubtedly the hardest to come to terms with, migrate through, and then embrace fully. Using my own form of 'art therapy' was the catalyst that forced me to work through my traumas and bring parts of my life to the forefront that I never wanted to admit were even happening, let alone share with the world. In doing so, I have experienced a transformation in my life unlike anything I could ever have imagined for myself. Through this art-filled, healing journey, I feel I am finally the person I was always meant to be. I truly hope my work will be the inspiration for others to find the courage to do the same.” Andrea’s incredible clay sculptures are more than just art; they are an expression of her path from pain to peace, and from survival to an authentic life.
*when displaying this sculpture, don’t put her in a window where the hair is in direct sunlight as it will fade the colour.
