Simone Schlichting grew up in an artistic family in the Slocan Valley, BC. She trained under a European goldsmith and then took those skills into a 10 year museum career as a mountmaker. There she learned to design and create highly customized, supportive metal mounts for artifacts in exhibits. She continued to develop as a metal worker, while also studying the ancient art styles and techniques of the artifacts she worked with. These continue to inspire her in the designs she creates today.
Simone was born a horse lover and she enjoys capturing the iconic and powerful symbol of the horse in her jewelry and limited edition bronze sculpture. Her equine designs, with their Art Nouveau influence, are inspired by her lifelong love of horses and passion for metal. Her equestrian jewelry is a delight for horse lovers and art lovers alike, as she captures the characteristics of different horse breeds and styles of horsemanship with a unique and artistic flare to differentiate the many ways we enjoy our horse companions.
Simone’s heart is very much at home near the majestic beauty of the mountains, and she finds herself inspired when hiking her favorite trails. Simone spends time each winter snow and ice sculpting with her father and brother, and on occasion joining the Canadian Snow Sculpting Team at international events.
Simone lives in Black Diamond, AB.
