18"W x 20"L
Wheel-thrown, high fire stoneware, deconstructed with rusted metal.
This was once a large plate that I use for landscape work, that didn't make it through the bisque. The two pieces were in a shape that made it possible to separate them and incorporate them into a multimedia landscape with some rusted metal. I used some old metal flashing, ground the paint off of some of the metal, and then went through the process of rusting it. Then I ground through the rust to connect the lines that were evident in the clay to connect both sides. What excited me most about this piece is the sculptural abstract quality that it gave me, and the earthy quality that came from the rust.
