Growing up in South Africa and Zimbabwe, Hermann knew from early age that he loved the bush with its animals and birds and that he loved to draw them. He studied graphic design at the Pretoria Tech Art School from 1986 – 1989 and shortly after relocated with his family to the USA and finally to Canada in 1998.
Hermann lives on an acreage south of Cochrane, Alberta and finds inspiration in the Rocky Mountains that stretch across the horizon outside his studio. He is a keen plein air painter working outside winter and summer to capture the landscape. Hermann views his work as a platform to raise awareness of endangered species and vanishing habitats.
