Dirk van Wyk, a practicing artist in multiple media since 1970, has taught drawing, visual communication, painting, bookbinding and a number of related material at university level for many years. Freelance and commissioned work includes labels for Big Rock Breweries, portraits, murals and decorative work on furniture. With both a BA and an MA in Fine Art (Drawing) from U of C, he also taught in the United Arab Emirates for 8 years at the American University of Sharjah. He is a member of the Alberta Craft Council and the New Calgary Rug and Textile Club and is actively involved with CBBAG (Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild).
