The Open Book: 
an introduction to Book-Binding

This introductory bookbinding workshop will familiarize you with some basic materials (paper, cloth, board and adhesives), and techniques (folding, sewing, gluing) to create simple books. You will explore a few binding techniques including: Accordion, Japanese stab-binding and a coptic style. You will also learn how to construct a portfolio/box to be used as a container for your books. Barbara Sutherland is an artist working with a variety of media to produce sculptural objects and installations. She has been an instructor in the Fibre Department at the Alberta College of Art and Design since 2011. Maximum 10 participants, $150 per person, all supplies included. Register online, or call 403-933-5047.
