Judy Perrin

Judy began painting over 20 years ago, while raising her family and working part time as a nurse. What started out as a hobby has now become a full blown passion! Judy Perrin is a self taught artist, who, after taking many classes and workshops, began to develop her own unique style. From impressionistic bright funky florals, to a more subdued palette in her cityscapes and landscapes, Judy is able to capture a certain energetic mood through use of color and line.  As she vacillates between colorful and vibrant to subdued and introspective, her work is constantly diversifying. Judy has recently developed a fascination with crows and has added a crow series to her repertoire of subjects. Amazed by their quirkiness and intelligence, Judy has observed them to be fascinating creatures to portray on canvas.  Judy loves to experiment with many different mediums, but chooses to work mostly in acrylics, oils and oil sticks. The diversity of these mediums work well with her fun, expressive style of painting. Over the last year Judy has been focusing on a new medium and has discovered the art of encaustic painting .She is excited about the beauty of painting with wax and how its diversity lends itself to her style of painting. Beautiful textures can be created through fusing layer upon layer of wax. Judy is excited about sharing her new passion with others and looks forward to offering workshops through the new Calgary School of Art and in Black Diamond, at Terra Cotta Gallery. Judy has offered workshops in the past in Calgary for corporations as a team building exercise. She enjoys encouraging others to explore their creative potential by experimenting with different mediums and techniques. Her enthusiasm for art and all that it offers is infectious! Judy’s work currently hangs in Black Diamond, at Terra Cotta Gallery.  Her work has also been shown in Comox and Courtenay, BC and in The Magnolia Gallery in Cumberland, BC. Judy’s work has been displayed and sold in the Calgary area for a number of years and has traveled as far as Germany! Judy continues to pursue a career in Hospice Nursing as well as promoting herself as an artist in the Calgary community.
