Possessing a remarkable aptitude for color and composition in all areas of her life, Jana discovered a natural ability and passion for painting in the mid 90′s. Jana was born in Prague and moved to Canada in 1968. She graduated with a diploma in graphic design in ’81 and turned her skills into a successful 20 year career in the field of advertising, design and print production. Her unique flair for textiles and home decor led her into the area of interior design. It wasn’t surprising to find out that Jana hadf a desire to paint. First starting in watercolors, pastels and acrylics, she soon moved to her preferred medium—oils. Her subject matter is diverse. Jana paints what inspires her. From still life and figurative drawings to original landscapes and commissioned work—she has an uncanny ability to capture the light and mood of her subjects.
